The heart of this organization is and always has been, the positive can-do attitude of its members. Everything from construction, maintenance, office work, accounting and kitchen help has been accomplished by volunteer members since the Center's beginning. This organization gains its strength from our active volunteer help. Some areas for new members to consider becoming active volunteers are:

Mission Statement and History

Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Canyon Lake Senior Center to promote the physical, intellectual and social well-being of its members and the senior community. Thereby, enhancing the dignity, self-worth, indepenedence and a wholesome life style for seniors in Rapid City.

History
The original members of the Canyon Lake Senior Center were a group of AARP people meeting in North Rapid City. They had no facility of their own. The Rapid City School District leased the property, that the main building now occupies, to the Center. The land was originally part off the 1,000 acre Sioux Sanitarium farm which was acquired in 1906 under the provision of the Indian Appropriations Act. Title of part of the land was transferred in 1950 by the Secretary of the Interior. Rapid City, the South Dakota National Guard and the Rapid City School District each received title to part of the land with the provision that the land be used for municipal, military and educational purposes respectively. If these purposes are not met, title reverts back to the federal government. The latest lease with the School District (which included all 22+ acres Canyon Lake Senior Center now controls) was signed in 1983 for 30 years with an option for another 20 years beyond that.

The Center was incorporated as a S.D. non-profit organization in January 1967, under laws of South Dakota and under the name of the Senior Citizens Park Corporation. The name was changed to "Senior Citizens, Incorporated" in November 1967. In October 1980, we were granted income tax exempt status under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The official name of the corporation is "Senior Citizens Inc.", but the Center is best known as Canyon Lake Senior Center.

A survey of the property was completed by FMG Inc. in 1988. Appraisal of the land was completed in 1989 by William A. Tubbs. Topographic layout, of the proposed outdoor recreation area, was done by TSP Inc. in 1989 and a study by Clarke Engineering for the flood zone was completed in 1990. Funds for these property functions were obtained from the City Block Grant program.

There have been at least six major expansions or renovation projects since the original building was completed. In reference to these, the pool/shuffleboard room was added; the annex was completed as an arts/craft building (a ceramics area was created later and the woodcraft area turned into a card room); the parking area was expanded and paved; the warehouse was added in 1986; and the kitchen and bathrooms were renovated. In 1994, the Center was completed with the major expansion of the Viking Hall, pool room, carpeted card room and computer room. In 1996-97, the kitchen was expanded and remodeled. Past and present boards of directors and members continue to update the facility for all to enjoy.

Membership started with 39 people and has grown to over 1,500 members. Members come from all over Rapid City and the surrounding Black Hills area. The Center has been and continues to be a busy place with an active and enthusiastic membership.

Funding for Canyon Lake Senior Center

OPERATIONAL BUDGET: Income earned as cash gifts received by the Center are routed to one of two places...the operational budget or the capital improvement fund. The City of Rapid City, Pennington County Council on Aging and United Way provide partial funding of the operational budget; the remainder is made up of dues, activity fees, earned income and special fund raising events.

GIFT PROGRAMS AND FUND DRIVES: Donations to the Center can be made at any time. A specific use may be designated. Consideration of the Center at the time of your charity is very much appreciated. On occasion, the Center initiates a specific fund drive to acquire a particular item of equipment or furniture or to complete a project. The fund drive is concluded when the needed amount is obtained. Tax deductible statements for donations are available.

FUND: This fund was created to establish a source of income which will insure the future success and stability of the Canyon Lake Senior Center. Endowment gifts and grants are welcomed. The fund is administered by a committee to guarantee that the assets held will be invested in accordance with sound investment principles. Only the interest accumulated on moneys gifted to this account can be utilized as "income" for the continuing long range financial support and maintenance of the Center.

MEMORIALS: The Center maintains a Memorial Book, recording donations in the name of deceased persons. If a donation of $300 or more is received, the deceased's name is added to the Memorial Plaque located within the Center. Memorials can be designated for a specific purpose or to be placed in the Center Endowment Fund. A memorial donation is an excellent way to have a person remembered. It benefits present and future members.

BUCK-A-MONTH CLUB: Pledges of a dollar a month are solicited from members. These are payable monthly or in a plump sum to help support the Center. Members identify needed itmes for the center and submit the proposal to the Board of Directors for approval.

RUMMAGE EVENTS: Rummage sales are normally scheduled at the Center each spring and fall. These may be held in conjunctions with on another or as sepearte designated fund raising sales events. The Center depends upon funds gained from these events to meet budget requirements. These events are organized, staffed and run by volunteers. Members and some activity groups furnish arts and craft bazaar items. Members and the general public contribute rummage items. Volunteers will pick up large items for the rummage sale.

PANCAKE SUPPERS & OTHER SOCIALS: Volunteers conduct social-type meal projects. Pancake suppers are usually held monthly on the 2^nd Tuesday of the month from 4 - 6 P.M., November through April. Chicken noodle dinners are held in May and October. A stew feed is put on in September. All of these low-cost social meal gatherings are open to the members and general public.

RECYCLING PROJECTS: Donated used aluminum cans are collected and the monies are put in the Operating Funds. Recyclable yard bags are available for purchase in the Center's office.

Activity Descriptions - Special In-House Activities - Activities Off-Premises

CHRISTMAS: Each year the Center has a party on the third Monday at 1 P.M. The Center may provide the meat (usually roast beef, ham or turkey) for the meal while the members bring the other trimmings as potluck. Special programs are planned for these events. Charge to members is minimal, however, non-member guests pay for the cost of the meal. Attendance is limited due to space, so reservations must be made in advance.

VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION: The Center staff and the Board of Directors organize and conduct the Volunteer Recognition event. We rely on the many educated and talented individuals who volunteer their time and efforts to the Center. We try to match the abilities of our members to available areas of need which are listed on their initial application forms. Some of the volunteer need areas include activity chairpersons, cooks, food servers, office workers, arts and craft teachers, computer specialists, bookkeepers, and on and on. We ask that the volunteers report their hours to the Center office at the end of each month. A report reflecting annual hours is kept on file. Volunteers are honored at our annual Volunteer Banquet, where they receive special recognition, a free dinner and program.

General Meeting/Birthday/Potluck
A birthday potluck is held monthly, except November and December. A king and queen will be selected from the birthday participants. They will be given a coupon from a local ventor. Birthday celebrants will be served cake with the potluck. A drawing will be conducted to present prizes to the members. A short business meeting will be held in March and October as the general membership meeting. The annual membership meeting will be held at the June birthday potluck.

Dues Structure
The Board sets the annual dues and activity fees. The membership year runs from January 1 through December 31. Renewal fees are not prorated. Dues reminders are mailed no later than February 28th and if membership renewals are not received by March 31 each year, the member is placed in the inactive file. Prompt payment of dues saves the Center time and money.

ACTIVITY FEES: The Board of Directors has established a small activity fee system for participants in various activities. These fees help the Center support the physical plant (lights, heat, cleaning, upkeep,etc.). A nominal fee is required each session per day. Participants in more than one activity or daily in one activity, may find it less expensive to buy a monthly activity card. The card allows you to play pool, card games, participate in exercise, aerobics, etc. It cannot be used to play bingo or for the dances. Anyone who participates more than 16 times a month, will find the activity card is the less expensive way to go.

LINE DANCING CLASSES:  A fun activity/class is in line dancing which is held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Check the calendar in the Senior News as to when the various line dancing classes are offered. New "beginning" line dance classes are started twice a year for first timers.

ARTS:  The arts and crafts groups meet when a class is planned or scheduled. Instructors come from the membership and the community. A chairperson is in charge of the group, but all participants are asked to suggest ideas. Some instructors will require that you purchase your own supplies, others will purchase them for reimbursement. Each participant should call the instructor in advance for supply requirements.

AEROBICS:  Aerobics meets each weekday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 A.M, in the upstairs area. The VCR/TV with video tapes is used for the routine. As one member puts it, "if you can walk, you can join us." The activity is a little more vigorous than the exercise group, so come dressed accordingly.

EXERCISE:  "A Place to Stay Young" could well be the motto of Center members who meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for general exercise, in the Viking Hall. The exercises are done with simple props such as sawed off broomsticks and hand weights. The taped routine that is used, is neither aerobic nor weight-reducing but is designed to keep the body's many joints loose and limber...a must for senior citizens. It is approved for senior citizen use. The sessions begin at 8:30 A.M. and lasts for one hour. A break is taken midway, and there is always time for a joke or two. Come join the group, you'll be glad you did. Passive or active exercise equipment is also available for member use in the upstairs area. Introductory instruction is required prior to use of the automated equipment. Exercise bikes, treadmills, weight lift and rowing machines are also available in this area. The upstairs exercise area is also open on Saturdays, 9 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.

T'AI CHI:  Meets each Monday and Friday morning form 10 - 11 A.M. in the upstairs area. The VCR/TV with video tapes is used for the routines. As one member puts it, "it's like moving in slow motion." The activity is not a vigorous exercise, so come dressed accordingly.

BINGO:  Center sponsored bingo games are held every Friday from 1 - 3 P.M. in the main room and are open to the public. There are 20 games each afternoon. Popcorn is available and a break is taken mid-afternoon for snacks and coffee. Callers and card sellers are volunteers from the Center.

CARD PLAYING:  All participants pay a nomial fee to play or may show their activity card. Breaks are taken midway for refreshments. Members need to check the monthly calendar to confirm time and location.

500 CARDS:  The group meets every Thursday at 11 A.M. in the annex. Generally there are 6 to 9 tables. Six games are played each afternoon.

CRIBBAGE:  The cribbage group meets every Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. in the card room. There are usually 12 to 20 players, with plenty of room for new participants.

DUPLICATE BRIDGE:  The duplicate bridge group meets on Tuesday and Friday afternoons at 12:30 PM. in the card room. The group welcomes new players. They are not a teaching group; therefore, anyone who wishes to play should have had some experience and knowledge of the game. A few basic rules apply as follows:

Anyone wishing to play should have arranged for a partner before play begins.
Bridge rules as set down in "ACBL" are followed.
Routinely partners are changed to enhance the sociability of the game and to give everyone a chance to win at some point in time.

HAND AND FOOT:  Meets every Monday afternoon at 1 P.M. in the card room.

PARTY BRIDGE:  There are party bridge sessions in the card room on Thursday and Saturday at 12:30 P.M. You do not need to have a partner prior to joining the group for the day.

PINOCHLE:  The Pinochle group meets on Monday and Friday nights at 1:00 P.M., in the card room. The play is with a single deck.

PITCH:  Pitch players meet at 1 P.M. on Thursdays.

WHIST:  This group meets every Tuesday at 1 P.M. in the annex. Six games are played each afternoon. Partners play a table of four. There are usually 16-30 players and new players are welcome.

CARD RECYCLING:  A cheerful, fun-loving group meets every Thursday morning for a couple of hours. Free chit chat while cutting, pasting and decorating with sparkles and colored pens provides low-cost greeting cards for purchase at the display located at the Center's office. The group wishes to thank those who furnish the used cards and remind them to bring the whole card--everything but the envelope. New envelopes are supplied with every card purchased. This generates income for the Center and saves seniors money on their card purchases. Come and enjoy the fun and companionship.

CERAMICS:  The Center's ceramics group meets in the northwest corner of the annex on Tuesdays beginning at 9 A.M. The ceramics room houses 2 kilns, worktables, green-ware and other supplies. The group makes ceramic articles for their individual use and also some to sell at the Center's gift counter and at the Center craft sale.

DANCES:  Dances are held at the Center on Saturday nights. Organizations, which sponsor these dances do so, on a rotation basis. Dances are open to the public and a nominal fee per person is charged. The Center also has contracts with various dance groups who provide dance instruction utilizing the Center's facilities.

DRAMA CLUB:  This group is a relatively new activity. They meet periodically and practice whenever necessary as space is open. The group performs short skits, some of their own writing, for Center's special events as well as other locations around town and the Black Hills.

CREATIVE WRITERS:  This is a group interested in improving their literary writing skills. Critiquing and guidance is offered to participants. They are currently meeting Tuesdays at 1 P.M. in the annex.

PAINTING CLASS:  CLSCC Painting classes meet for 3 hours each week on Thursdays from 12 - 3 p.m. in the library lounge. You furnish your own supplies. You may choose oil or acrylic paints. To start, it will cost you about $35 to $40 in paint. brushes, and etc. Classes will be $5 plus the 50 cents activity fee or activity card.

BADMINTON:  This activity is as an active indoor sport and has been meeting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons at 2 P.M. prior to volleyball in Viking Hall.

TABLE TENNIS (Ping Pong):  The Center has folding table tennis tables available which are set up on the second floor of the new addition. Equipment is available upstairs if you wish to play. This is one of the events in the Senior Olympics and you may practice at the Center anytime. Players meet Wednesday and Friday afternoons at 3:20 P.M.

POOL/SNOOKER:  The Center has four regular pool tables and two snooker tables. The pool room is open from 8 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. week-days, as well on Saturday from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. The Center has an ample supply of cue sticks. Ladies and men players are both welcome.

SHUFFLEBOARD:  Two shuffleboard courts are available. Equipment is available at the Center. Rules are posted and two to four people can play at one time when the Viking Hall area is open.

BASKETBALL:  This is an open activity for members to get in a little proactive exercise on the court. Interested members practice in the Viking Hall on Thursdays at 2 p.m. for an hour.

VOLLEYBALL:  Our Spacious Viking Hall with the high ceilings makes an ideal place for the Center favorite activity. This group meets three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:15 to 5 P.M.

PICKELBALL:  This is a relatively new activity and has become one of our most popular sports. They meet three times a week on Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 P.M. for 3 hours and Friday at 1 P.M. for 1 hour.

GARDENING:  Members can rent one or two rows (50 feet each) for the season in a fenced garden area. Their responsibility is to plant, weed and harvest. Water is furnished through the watering system set up in the garden. Rows rent for a nominal fee/per season.

SINGING (JOYFUL GALS AND GUYS):  If you love to sing, this is the group for you. It is good therapy and they have a lot of fun. Practice is held every Friday at 10:00 AM. No practices are held during the summer months. This group provides entertainment at the nursing homes and other senior centers on Thursday afternoons.

NEEDLECRAFT:  (Stichin' Time): A needlecraft group, although inactive from time to time, meets Mondays 12 - 2 P.M. The group brings their own sewing projects to work on for show and tell and/or individuals act as instructors in the areas of crochet, counted cross-stitch, knitting, embroidery, quilting, etc. At times special projects may involve the entire group in a sewing project for the kitchen, craft sales items or in a fund raising endeavor for the Center such as a quilt, to auction. Mini-classes or instruction is available from time to time. Anyone is welcome to join the group for companionship and sharing interests.

RUG LOOMING:  The Center has one rug loom and the group meets weekly on Monday mornings at 9 A.M., in the annex building. Individuals interested in cutting and sewing strips of fabric and learning how to use the loom are welcome. Rugs and place mats are standard sizes or made to order. These are sold at the Center gift counter.

The Center currently operates out of two buildings. The main building houses the staff offices, library/lounge area, dining area, card room, computer room, pool/billiard room, Viking Hall (ballroom/stage/volleyball/badminton/shuffleboard area), kitchen and warehouse. The upper level houses an indoor recreation area with exercise equipment (exer-cycles, table tennis/rowing machines/golf driving net, etc.). The annex building has a ceramics area and small rooms used for classes, card playing and houses the rug loom, sewing machines, and the newspaper office. Our bookkeeping office is also in the annex. Garden spaces are located on the Center's property.

CENTER LIBRARY: The Center maintains, with the help of volunteers, a very good library of donated videos, puzzles, hard and paperback books including some large print volumes, and current magazines. If you have books or videos to donate (no textbooks), please drop them off at the Center's office. Printed material on subjects of interest to senior citizens, includes health, insurance, specific illnesses, government regulations and programs, tax information and travel literature and are also located in the library area. The Center maintains a sign-out ledger for videos. Members are encouraged to visit and use the library. The books, videos and magazines are available just for the lending and returning.

BULLETIN BOARDS: Bulletin boards with various information are located in the main building. Members are asked to leave the article or information notice to be posted at the office desk. All articles and advertisements are to be reviewed by the Director, prior to actual posting.

ACTIVITY SIGN-UP AREA IN LIBRARY LOUNGE: An activity counter located at the back of the library/lounge is utilized for sign-up sheets for all manner of activities that require advanced scheduling and/or volunteers. Members are encouraged to visit this area frequently. Notification of member illness, hospitalization, accident or death should be directed to the front office so that appropriate cards can be placed for member signatures and subsequent mail-out.

KITCHEN FACILITIES: The kitchen has some new appliances and cabinets. The kitchen is available to facility and member use for serving, snack preparation, Center potlucks, pancake suppers, chicken noodle dinners, holiday dinners, etc. For Center potlucks, members bring their own silverware and plates. Additional freezers, refrigerators and locked storage space are located in the warehouse. Coffee is available at the kitchen serving window Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.. Soft drink dispensers are located in the main room and in the library/lounge area. There is a commercial popcorn machine which is used for Friday afternoon bingo games and at other times upon request. There is no charge for the popcorn on Fridays.

MEALS PROGRAM: The Center provides a serving and eating site for the city-wide MEALS Program on a Monday through Friday basis (11:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.). The MEALS Program provides discounted meals to the elderly. Center volunteers provide services in cleanup, serving and collecting the meal fees. Menus for the month are printed in the Senior News. Reservations must be made by 4 P.M. the previous day by calling 394- 6002. Cancellations are to be called into 343-8214, no later than 8: A.M on the day reserved. No meals are served on weekends or holidays or on special function days.

USE OF CENTER FACILITIES: When not utilized by members for Center sponsored activities, the facilities are available for use on a reservation basis. There is a set fee schedule for the use of various equipment and areas. Such fees are used to off-set some of the expense of operating the facilities. This is a significant portion of the operational budget. There is a facility use contract and policy to guide staff and members who want to use the Center for their own private use (birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, etc.). The Center is available on a first come, first serve basis with Center activities having first priority.

SENIOR CITIZENS NEWS: The Senior Citizens News is a monthly publication sponsored jointly by the Canyon Lake and Minneluzahan Senior Center. Information from both Ceters is included as well as information for all elderly. Each Center's current monthly activity caendar is included. The paper is supported by advertisers and is mailed free to the members of both Centers as part of their dues. Subscriptions are also available to others for a modest fee. Deadlines for articles in the paper are established. Normally, the newspaper is distributed on the last Friday of each month. THe goal of the newspaper is to keep seniors and the community aware of elderly issues, events, legislation and educational opportunities. Personal ads are available for advertisement rates. Contact the ads sales staff at the Center, phone 721-8712 or fax 721-8712.

The Senior News will be mailed normally on the last Friday of the month. If you wish to pick up your paper (saves the Centers' postage), you can be placed on a permanent pick-up list. Volunteers from both Centers, hand-carry bundles of newspapers to local businesses that have given permission as a distribution point.

COPIER: The Center has a copier, its capabilities include enlarging and reducing. Paper size can be as large as 11 x 17 inches. Center members can use this machine for a minimal fee per copy.

TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: The Center serves as an AARP site for income tax assistance to the elderly and low income during the months of February through April 15. This non-charge service is sponsored by AARP utilizing tax-trained counselors who provide basic filing information, e-filing, and general assistance in the completion of tax returns either by hand or computer-assisted.

HEALTH AND HOME CARE EQUIPMENT: The Center has a variety of scheduled health programs which are conducted and include "wellness" clinics (which offer blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen checks) and a foot clinic (which offers basic foot care at a nominal fee). Several healthy life-style seminars are scheduled throughout the year which include guidelines relative to aging issues such as diabetes, physical therapy, back pain, etc. A limited amount of home care equipment for use by members is available on a temporary loan basis. This includes exer-cyle, wheel chairs, crutches, bathroom stool extenders, canes and walkers. If you have need for these items, check with the office staff. Use is on a donation basis.

PIANOS: The Center has pianos. Members are free to use these instruments when activities are not being conducted, in fact music is always welcomed at the Center.

VIDEO CASSETTE RECORDER & TELEVISIONS: VCRs connected to televisions set are located at various sites in the Center. Members wanting to use them for programs are free to do so. Two TVs and a VCR are kept in the main building for programs presented to a large audience. These sets are not movable within the building.

LESSONS/CLASSES:If you are interested in participating in one of the Center's activities, you should contact the activity leader of the group to see when the activity meets and if individual instruction can be arranged. The staff makes a concerted effort to offer lessons in special activities such as billiards, golf, bridge, painting and adult education topics. Many areas of adult interest/instruction are listed on the "sign-up" sheets and also publicized in the Senior Citizen News. Instruction in some activities is offered on site during the normal weekly activity. Cost to participate is minimal. Sign-up sheets are on the activity counter in the library/lounge area or in the Center's office. Normally ten participants must sign up ahead of time in order for a class to be presented. Members should watch the Senior Citizens News for announcement of proposed classes.

COMPUTER TRAINING: Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Center primarily utilizes IBM-compatible personal computers. Office staff and other volunteers who utilize the computers are often available to assist you.

Computer classes and private tutoring are offered to seniors for a nomial fee and require completion of an application form. Such instruction is offered to help seniors learn how to utilize computer technology.

Computer literate volunteers are always more than welcome to offer their expertise in carrying out the administration of Center, in typesetting the Senior Citizens News, in typing policies/procedures, in-putting accounting and membership data and doing other word processing, data base and spreadsheet tasks.

Meetings
The nineteen member Board of Directors is charged with decision making for the corporation and operation of the Center. The Board meets regularly on the 2nd Monday of each month at 9 A.M. in the card room of the Center. Members are welcome to attend meetings and to take their concerns to individual directors, Executive Board or to the full Board of Directors. Minutes of the meetings are posted on the bulletin board in the Center's main hallway.

Board Policy System
The Board of Directors has created a policy and procedure system to provide guidance for the operation of the Center and to assist the transition process when there are staff and Board member changes. The Board periodically reviews and updates the policies as necessary. The policy book is available for members to review in the Center's office and suggestions are welcome and should be directed to the Bylaws/Policy and Procedure Committee.

Capital Improvement Fund
The Board's long range plans for the Center's growth are on-going. Expansion is made necessary by the increasing population, longevity and interest of senior citizens. The capital improvement fund is also used for major pieces of equipment and for major maintenance of the facilities. Gifts and donations to this fund are also tax deductible.

Activity Descriptions - Special In-House Activities - Activities Off-Premises

BREAKFAST WALKS:  Persons who like to walk, stroll and visit, are encouraged to join this group. It is relatively easy to walk over to the bicycle path in the park as a group and then go west to the golf course restaurant or east to Bakken Park for breakfast. In the winter months, the walkers meet at the Rushmore mall for walking and breakfast.

BOWLING:  Monday is bowling day for Center members. They gather at the Meadow-wood lanes on Sturgis Road at 10 A.M. It is a fun group and there is plenty of exercise. Some members are beginning bowlers and are so enthusiastic they have purchased their own equipment.

HIKING:  Each summer the "Recycled Hikers" participate in hiking the Black Hills and surrounding areas. The season is started in May with easy hikes and continues to build endurance and stamina until the end of the season in September when the "final" is a trek up Harney Peak. This proves physical fitness can be enjoyed.

LAWN BOWLING:  The Center has a lawn bowling pitch and because of the heat, games are scheduled at 4 P.M. This is not a strenuous activity, but is a lot of fun.

TRIPS/TOURS AWAY FROM THE CENTER:  The Center owns two vans which have a capacity of 11 passengers each. Examples of activities involving the vans are trips to the Black Hills Playhouse, various Black Hills attractions, visits to other senior centers, hiking etc. Watch for announcements in the Center newspaper as well as the sign up sheets on the activity counter. Come join in the camaraderie and fun!

SENIOR GAMES:  "Senior Olympics": The Senior Games are held once a year during June. The focus of these games is on fun, fitness and participation. Competitiveness is also a part of it, although not the main focus. Everyone is a winner in the Senior Games, whether it be in making new friends, toning muscles, or reaching a sought-after goal. The following is a partial list of events that senior athletes can enter, shot-put, runs, walks, tennis, bowling, lawn bowling, volleyball, golf, card games, shuffleboard, softball throw, table tennis, swimming, etc. You must be 55 or over to enter and there is an entry fee. An awards banquet is held after the events and awards are given.
